Representations of Gender and Age

- Mojo celebrates older musicians, by putting a picture who is now old and mentioning a man who was popular in the 70s this goes against stereotypical representations of popular musicians.

- The stereotypes representation of older people as facing an uncertain future - 'there are a lot of graver out there' 

-The stereotypical linking of excess and youth but using a photo of the members of Queen when they were young to illustrate the pull quote ' we were a sacrifice to the God of excess' the picture is of them being very young and had a lot of hair. 

GENDER= 

-Men tend to be linked and stereotypically represented to authority and seriousness. This is shown in the image of Nick Cave.

- the stereotypical representation of men artists as excessive in the cover line about queen. 

-The stereotypical link of masculinity and warfare in the cover line about Billy Bragg.

mise en scene= Teenage dirt bag, classic American high school symbol of conformity and tradition of people knowing what their roles are in life. Boy wants to belong and clear hierarchy of people who are important and made to feel outsiders don't belong, he wants to be the guy that wins the girl, narrative music video (tells a story). At the end of the music video the band and the narrative story come together. Mise en scene codes who have importance and who are in control. 

Colours have an impact, bright strong, deeply saturated colours. Creates positive connotations. It deliverers that there is always a princess and reward stereotypical  

This promotes that they are artists=  

Camera work = traditional way of dealing with a music video in that both the band and the lyrics of the story, the camera has, mid shots close up shots, high angle music videos promote and artists and the close ups authenticates an audience. So that they are confident accomplished artists.

Editing = Editing cuts between shots of the band and the story its self, both artists and story merge together at final scene.
